1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Piggy Banks ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

Piggy Banks is a personal planning application that allows you to:

  • Connect your bank accounts to import transactions
  • Categorize and organize your spending
  • Create and manage plans
  • View reports and insights about your finances

The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. Piggy Banks is a planning tool and does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or credit services.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must sign in with a valid personal Microsoft, Google, or Apple account. By signing in, you represent that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • The identity-provider account you use is your own
  • You will keep your provider account credentials secure
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

4. Bank Connections

When you connect a bank account through our third-party provider, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You authorize us to retrieve your account information and transaction history through our bank data provider
  • Your bank login credentials are handled entirely by the third-party provider — Piggy Banks never sees, stores, or has access to your bank username, password, or PIN
  • We receive read-only access to your account information and cannot move money, make payments, or modify your bank accounts
  • You may disconnect your bank accounts at any time from within the application

Your use of bank connection features is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of the third-party bank data provider.

5. Household Sharing

The Service supports shared budgets among a household of up to three members. By inviting another person to join your budget or by accepting an invitation, you acknowledge:

  • The owner of a budget controls membership. Only the owner can invite a new member or remove an existing one.
  • All current members of a budget have equal read/write access to its transactions, plans, and bank connections.
  • Members may leave a shared budget at any time. An owner who deletes their account or the budget will cause the data to be deleted for all members.
  • Invitations are time-limited (five minutes) and one-time-use. The transfer of access uses encrypted, server-mediated key wrapping; invitations cannot be replayed or shared.
  • Once a member is removed, their access ends immediately and irrevocably.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You may not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use the Service on behalf of a third party without authorization
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by Piggy Banks and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of your personal financial data.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal budgeting purposes, subject to these Terms.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. Key points include:

  • All financial data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption
  • Each budget is encrypted with its own key; in a shared budget, each member holds their own wrapped copy of that key — we never store a plaintext key on disk
  • We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising or profiling
  • We do not use third-party analytics, tracking scripts, or cookies

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled or unscheduled maintenance
  • Updates or improvements to the Service
  • Factors beyond our reasonable control (e.g., internet outages, third-party service disruptions)

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that transaction data will be complete or accurate, or that any errors will be corrected. Piggy Banks is not a financial advisor and the Service should not be relied upon as the sole basis for financial decisions.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PIGGY BANKS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

12. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the application. When you delete your account:

  • All your financial data is permanently and irreversibly deleted
  • All bank connection tokens are removed
  • Your user profile is removed from our systems

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
